PARTNERSHIPS

Bouygues UK is working in close partnership with the Westminster City Council and the management of the St Marylebone School to ensure the Project is developed successfully and that the objectives of improved educational standards and facilities are met. We believe that understanding our client’s needs and objectives is the key element for an effective and efficient co-operation and for positive long term results for all parties connected with the Project.

WESTMINSTER CITY COUNCIL

Westminster City Council is in the third wave of the national Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme to improve secondary schools across England and Wales.  The BSF programme aims to improve the quality of education provision for every secondary and special school student.   In Westminster, the improvement proposals will be supported by £152 million of investment in new and refurbished buildings and Information Communications Technology in seven secondary, two special schools and a Pupil Referral Unit.

Work has been underway at the first three schools - Pimlico Academy, St Marylebone School and Westminster City School - from January 2008 and works on St Augustine's School and St George's School began in April 2009.

ST MARYLEBONE SCHOOL

Founded in 1791, St Marylebone School is a successful, multi-faith comprehensive school for girls aged eleven to eighteen. Set in an oasis of calm just two minutes’ walk from the turmoil of Marylebone Road, the school provides an exhilarating and inspiring learning environment which provides opportunities for all pupils to achieve.

The school offers a haven of peace and tranquillity where traditional principles underpin a modern, forward thinking, innovative outlook which gives girls confidence and skills to know that women can succeed in whatever they choose to do. Our standards are high and we pride ourselves in giving every student the opportunity to excel, to fulfil her potential and become highly qualified, equipped fully for the demands and exciting challenges of life.

The school’s aims are the pursuit of excellence and the provision of high quality education for pupils of all abilities, backgrounds and ethnicities in a supportive environment.
We are proud of our specialist school status in performing arts, maths and ICT and on the impact this has on our learning environment. Our performing arts, maths and ICT specialisms enable us to forge important links with local primary and secondary schools and to involve the wider community in the life of the school.

The school’s campus of listed buildings has recently been enhanced with the opening of our superb performing and visual arts block including a subterranean sports hall and dance studio complex that has been widely featured in the national press for its design quality. We are now delighted to be part of the Building Schools for the Future programme that will help realise the school’s ambitions and to allow more pupils to access the quality of education we offer. The addition of a new building for 14-19 education on Blandford Street will further enhance our offers of GCSEs, vocational courses, diplomas and A levels and allow our post 16 students better quality space in which to study. The refurbishment of our existing buildings will bring new facilities and enhanced ICT provision throughout the school and benefits to all pupils.

ST VINCENT'S R.C. PRIMARY SCHOOL

St Vincent’s is a Voluntary Aided Roman Catholic Primary School based in the heart of Marylebone. It maintains a Christian, caring ethos which is achieved by close partnership between home, school and community. The school has worked hard to establish strong links with the local parishes, hosting community events such as coffee mornings and the Family Mass.

St. Vincent's aims to provide an environment in which all pupils are able to achieve their potential, offering a differentiated, broad and balanced curriculum. The children consistently achieve excellent Key Stage 2 results:

“We are pleased that the development of a Foundation Stage Unit is being incorporated into the St. Marylebone project. From the very beginning, we have established a constructive working relationship with the school’s constructor, Bouygues UK, which I hope will help us to deliver the project efficiently, effectively and with minimal disruption to student learning and wellbeing.”
